Meet the Winner of Star Wars: Force for Change

A few months ago, Lucasfilm and Disney announced Star Wars: Force for Change, a charitable organization that would raise money for UNICEF's Innovation Labs. Those who donated were entered for a chance to win a brief role in Star Wars Episode VII, as well as a visit to the set with a guest. The lucky winner is D.C. Barns of Denver, Colorado, who first saw Star Wars when it premiered in 1977.

Together, fans raised over $4.26 million for UNICEF's Innovation Labs, with The Walt Disney Company committing an additional $1 million to support the campaign.

Main Theme to "Star Wars Rebels" Released

The official Disney XD YouTube channel has released the main title theme to Star Wars Rebels, by composer Kevin Kiner. This theme had previously been online, but as a lower quality recording from WonderCon. Take a listen, then tell us what you think in the comments.

Me? I love this theme. It has the feel of classic Star Wars, with a bit of original music, combined with hints of the Rebel Alliance theme from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and, of course, the classic Binary Sunset theme from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. All of it comes together to form a theme that feels both new and familiar at the same time.

Is it October yet?

Harrison Ford Spotted Without Cast or Crutch

Harrison Ford appears to be recovering from his injury rather quickly, based on a new image posted by the New York Daily News. Check out the photo of Ford walking without a cane or a crutch, the latter of which he had been seen using in past photos:

The Han Solo actor, who was injured by a falling door on the set of Star Wars Episode VII, has been on hiatus from filming since his injury nearly two months ago. Rumors swirled that Ford might be out of production for six months, potentially even delaying the film's release until 2016, but this photo would suggest otherwise. I personally never put stock in those rumors—Disney and Lucasfilm were pretty definitive when it came to saying there'd be no release date change, with little wiggle room—so it'…

Rian Johnson Talks Episode VIII

Lucasfilm may not have officially confirmed Rian Johnson as the director of Star Wars Episode VIII yet, but that hasn't stopped the Looper director from talking about the film and how he is already working on it. Now you may be asking, why is Johnson already working on Episode VIII when Star Wars Episode VII is still in production? From everything we've heard, the films will be two years apart (unlike the films of the original trilogy and prequel trilogy, which were three years apart). To meet that presumed December 2017 deadline, that means that Episode VIII has to be worked on pronto.

On Saturday, Johnson Skype'd into a taping of the film podcast Filmspotting, where he talked a bit about Episode VIII. The director said he took the job because "the t…

The Clone Wars is Far From Over

In early 2013, Star Wars: The Clone Wars fans were in despair over the news that the show had been cancelled. Disney and Lucasfilm had made the decision to chart a new course for Lucasfilm Animation, including creating a new show, Star Wars Rebels, that would bridge the gap between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy. This left fans of The Clone Wars feeling left behind, with the show cut down in its prime. There was a promise that some of the remaining Clone Wars stories would be released eventually, but fans did not know what form that would take. Luckily, in March of this year, fans got to see more of The Clone Wars, with the release of 13 new episodes that covered some of the most pivotal moments of the Star Wars mythos.

But even then, ther…

New Novel Announced, Starring Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos

A brand new canon Star Wars novel was announced today at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, during the panel touting the upcoming release of Star Wars: A New Dawn. This brand new novel, which is currently nameless, will star Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos. It is based on unused scripts from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, scripts that were written in conjunction with George Lucas. That means the stories would have been part of the show, had it not been cancelled.

Not much is known yet, but we do know that the novel will skew more towards adult audiences and deal with more mature themes. It will be able to explore the characters more in-depth than the show was able to, so that sounds exciting.

Obsidian is Still Interested in Knights of the Old Republic III - But Don't Hold Your Breath

BioWare may have once said that Star Wars: The Old Republic was Knights of the Old Republic 3, 4, 5, and 6, but that doesn't mean that Obsidian Entertainment has given up on the possibility of there being an actual Knights of the Old Republic III. Speaking to IGN, Pillars of Eternity project director Josh Sawyer and lead producer Brandon Adler said that Obsidian, which developed Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, still talks about what a third KOTOR game could be like. According to Sawyer:

Report: Marvel to Publish a Princess Leia Title

Bleeding Cool reports that Marvel will be kicking off its Star Wars line with three monthly titles, one of which will center on Princess Leia. No further information is known at this time, but, if true, using Princess Leia as a flagship title would make sense given other recent strides by Marvel to bring more diversity to its characters. The comic publisher recently announced that the new Thor would be a woman, while the Falcon, an African American character, would take over for Steve Rogers as the new Captain America.

There's a good chance we'll learn more about Marvel's plans for Star Wars this week at San Diego Comic-Con. Fanpedia will be here to report any Star Wars comics news from the convention. Stay tuned!

George Lucas Says Boba Fett Survived Return of the Jedi

Star Wars historian, author, and editor Jonathan Rinzler participated in a Reddit AMA today where he confirmed that Boba Fett, the galaxy's most notorious bounty hunter, survived falling into the sarlacc pit in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Asked if Boba Fett escaped, Rinzler said:

"Yes, he does. I have been in meetings with George where he confirms that Fett survived. If it comes from George then it's true!"

Unless a new story or film changes that, then Rinzler's comments mean that Boba's escape, which has long been true in the now-non-canon Expanded Universe, can be considered official George Lucas canon.

Do you think Boba should still be alive after Return of the Jedi? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
