Darths & Droids is a Star Wars fan webcomic that parodies the Star Wars films, beginning with Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.[1] So far the first six films have been parodied with comics called The Phantasmal Malevolence, The Silence of the Clones, Revelation of the Sith, A New Generation, The Enemy Let Slip, and The Jedi Reloaded. A parody of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, called Butch Cassian and the Sundance Droid, is in production and began on August 1, 2017.[2]
The project is described as an "RPG screencap comic" in that the characters in the comic are roleplaying game players, guided by a Game Master as they take on the roles of characters within the Star Wars universe. This role-playing forms the text of the comic, while the imagery is screen captures of the Star Wars films. The player-written text over the film imagery creates a comic that the writers hope is funny.[1]
