This week, it was announcd that Tiya Sircar would be playing Sabine, a Mandalorian weapons expert and graffiti artist who loves to blow things up. Not only does she just blow things up, though, but she does so with a flair due to her artist background. She is one of the first, if not the first character in Star Wars who is expressively creative through art. This creativity shows in the color of her hair, how she paints her armor and her bunk aboard the Ghost, and how she leaves graffiti behind when the rebels attack an Imperial target—a calling card so the Galactic Empire knows the rebels have attacked them.
What do you think of Sabine? Do you like her? Is there anything you don't like about her?
It sounds like she leaves graffiti as a way of "signing" what the rebels do. It's a way of inspiring hope in the population that there are people fighting for their freedom, and a way of letting the Empire know who is responsible for attacks against them.
I won't know totally until it airs, but so far I can't stand her. She needs to be killed off quickly if they want the show to progress to the Rebel Alliance we see in the movies. Just a filler character to make it more kid-friendly. Terrorists and thugs leave graffiti.
I just hope that her backstory involves a clone commando or ARC trooper taking a Mando wife and having her...then I would have a reason to actually WATCH it. Perhaps her spunkiness is a result of being without her clone father, or her mother dying at (wait for it) the hands of reformed DEATH WATCH.
I will admit to only being on season 2 of Clone Wars, so I'm not sure how everything falls in place, but I question how Sabine has Mandalorian armor. Since Mandalore became a peaceful society, and the only ones with armor were in Death Watch (as well as both Fetts), how does Sabine get her armor? Was her family in Death Watch?
Although I guess that question applies to both Jango and Boba as well, who weren't even Mandalorians.
