  • Tatooine

With the recent confirmation that Star Wars Episode VII has already done second unit filming in Abu Dhabi, and the rumors that the film will shoot in Morocco, there's been a lot of buzz that we may see the return of Anakin and Luke Skywalker's homeworld of Tatooine. The desert planet has famously appeared in five out of six live-action films (all but Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back), as well as the Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and TV series.

If the buzz is true, and Episode VII does return to Tatooine, do you think it should? Is an appearance from Tatooine important for a Star Wars movie, or would you rather see new and original planets? Maybe both?

If it does return, what kind of appearance would you like to see?

    • I did mention this in another discussion but that never really took off so I'll put my thoughts here.

I'm perfectly okay with returning to Tatooine, as long as actual plot takes place there. I'd like to see the characters stranded in the wilderness, with no help nearby and of course with the Sand People.

The prequels were flawed in many ways, but its planets were not one of them. It brought Tatooine back beautifully, from the seedy Mos Espa to the Tusken Camp to Obi-Wan setting off into the setting suns. If Tatooine were to be emulated this way, I would like it.
