Del Rey has announced changes in the release dates for Star Wars: Heir to the Jedi and Star Wars: Lords of the Sith, both of which have been slated for release in early 2015. Heir to the Jedi, by Kevin Hearne, will now be released on February 17, 2015, replacing the previous January 13th release date; while Lords of the Sith by Paul Kemp will be released on April 21, 2015 instead of its previous March date.

Heir to the Jedi takes place between Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and is told entirely from Luke Skywalker's first-person perspective. Lords of the Sith is set between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Rebels, telling the story of how Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine fought their way off an insurgent battlefield.

The two novels will be part of the official Star Wars canon.
