Star Wars Title Placeholder 001

Anyone can see that established franchises make an extraordinary amount of money at the box office these days. Just look at Marvel, another Disney property. Last year's The Avengers made over $1.5 billion at the box office, and this year's Iron Man 3 made over $1.2 billion. Studios count on franchises to be successful. Star Wars, which is already one of the most successful franchises of all time, is no different for Disney.

It should therefore come as no surprise that Star Wars Episode VII is expected to make a ton of money at the box office when it's released in 2015. According to Michael Senno of the financial services firm Credit Suisse, the film will likely make at least $1.2 billion in the global box office, merchandising, and more, netting Disney a profit of $733 million. This should send Disney's stock price up much higher. Combine that with the second Avengers movie, also released in 215, and Disney will have a very strong year.
