Yesterday, it was reported that Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing the title character in Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange, a character from the supernatural side of the Marvel universe. The film is scheduled to be released in 2016, and it will be directed by Scott Derrickson.

But Cumberbatch may not have been the only actor in the running.

Fanpedia has it on good authority that there was talk about Ewan McGregor, who famously portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, taking on the role of Doctor Strange. However, an inside source tells us that Disney stepped in to inform Marvel that McGregor could not be cast as Doctor Strange. Why? Because they need him to play Obi-Wan again.

We don't know what they might need Obi-Wan for, but recent rumors have suggested there could be one or even as many as three spinoff films about Obi-Wan, presumably set between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Our source only said that Disney stopped Marvel from using him because of some sort of Star Wars project.

Do you want to see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi? What kind of appearances would you like to see him make? Chime in below!
