Part of the lifeblood of the Star Wars Saga is lovable droid characters. For the first 20 minutes or so of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the action and story mostly revolved around C-3PO and R2-D2, as they made their way from the Rebel blockade runner to the surface of Tatooine and met Luke Skywalker. The two characters have been an integral part of the saga ever since. Even other Star Wars stories like the video game Knights of the Old Republic had a major droid sidekick character, showing just how important droids are to the galaxy far, far away.

That tradition will continue with Star Wars Rebels. Set five years before A New Hope, Rebels will chart the formation of the Rebel Alliance in a galaxy where the Galactic Empire rules with an iron fist. The focus will be on a group of rebels from the planet Lothal, traveling aboard the starship Ghost. In an interview with the German website MoviePilot, Dave Filoni and the Rebels team gave us our first look at one of the main characters, a droid named Chopper. I'm looking forward to seeing a grumpy little droid like Chopper, a contrast with the always-cheerful R2-D2. Are you? Let us know in the comments below!
